Evolving Landscapes

03/11/2023 – 05/01/2024

The landscape, as a genre in art, has been a recurring theme that has metamorphosed through various art movements, ranging from Romanticism to Impressionism. Today, the concept of “evolving landscapes” in contemporary art addresses not just the physical changes in our environment but also the sociocultural, technological, and ideological shifts shaping our world. The exhibition Evolving Landscapes delves into the ways in which contemporary artists interpret and express these changes in the realm of contemporary art in the flood of development of the medium called digital technology.

At the intersection where the organic converges with the digital, art discovers an enriched canvas for introspection, critical analysis, and redefinition. This exhibition, in particular, delves profoundly into this nexus, showcasing the oeuvre of four contemporary artists – Anna Mutschlechner-Dean, Evelyn Bencicova, Heleen Blanken, and Studio Above&Below. These artists adroitly traverse the realms of the tangible and the virtual, driving us to reevaluate our understandings of nature, spatiality, and identity under the concept of evolving landscapes.
